As a Christian, how do you view renewable energy?

Should we be concerned with conserving non-renewable fuels? Can renewable energy help us become better stewards of God’s creation? If the world is really under God’s control, should we really put all our time into these renewable sources?

    Consider God’s divine hand and how he has the the four seasons to give different stages for life. In spring life spouts up from the old, among the decayed matter which it uses for growth – food, in summer it grows and blooms, in Autumn it begins the dying or hibernation process and shed the growth – such as leaves on the tree which insulate the ground to keep the tree roots warmer and to nourish the earth. Then in spring those decayed leaves have formed a rich layer of peat or black dirt from which the plants must grow.

    Now do you see how recycling is part of God’s own plan?

    I strongly support using renewable energy sources where ever possible, but I don’t see any connection to being a christian.

    Why would it make a difference if there was or wasn’t a god. FACT we are going to run out of crude oil FACT we need energy to do everything we have come accustom to in this world FACT we need to start using and developing renewable energy.

    Gods control… FACT There is no God

    Lets say you are given a key to a house on a secluded island. The house and the island is yours. It will last as long as you take care of it. Now given the limited resources on the island and this house, would you find ways to take care of it so that it will last you a lifetime?

    Will you cut all the trees on the island to keep your fire warm or will you sustain it by planting as you cut?
    Will you go to the bathroom in the only drinking water source or will you treat the sewage before it is returned to the ground water?
    Will you kill all the animals on the island to get their oil for your generator or will you get a rechargeable battery that charges up with wind power or solar power?

    Our planet is one big house. God, the landlord, has given us the key and free-will. The planet will last as long as we take care of it. Wouldn’t behoove of us to protect ourselves from extinction by taking care of our home planet?

    Our earth, as of now, is the only home we got. We should do all that is in our ability to protect it. This means conserve our natural resources and find ways to sustain our resources as much as we can.

    Renewable energy concerns are really only an issue when the renewable energy concept or dogma starts to be so dominating in one’s life that it precludes all else.

    Let us be honest- the Al Gore and similar global warming pundits’ followers tend to get very strident when Al Gore or the AGW dogma is questioned, or the individuals positions questioned; at this point those adherents of the AGW/ Al gore’s ideology are in effect following that dogma and holding those values above those of a Christian. Many lose sight of that. One can easily draw parallels between a religion (take your pick) and environmentalism.

    Man was given dominion animals of the earth and essentially of the earth itself- which means dealing with animals and the earth in a manner that is responsible and not abusive. It does not mean live for today solely to consume for today; but rather live responsibly for today so you can transfer sheparding/stewardship to another who comes after you.

    You no doubt have the simili: "What would Christ drive?" The honest answer is he would be driving a bus, or a vehicle that could carry what he needed to carry- he was rarely alone, so one of those smart cars is out of the question. Although I could see the contests to see how many disciples can fit in one.
