BMW Hydrogen Powered 7-Series

Imagine if every taxi in NYC were powered by the BMW‘s hydrogen-fueled V8: The only thing coming out of their tailpipes would be water vapor. I pull the Hydrogen 7 out into traffic and joust my way over to the West Side Highway and trundle up to 40-or-so miles per hour, far slower than its’ touted 154-mph top speed. The H7 is running just fine, so I thumb the H2 button on the wheel and—exactly nothing happens. The speed and note of the engine change not one bit.     It releases alot of power when it burns because it burns much hotter and much faster, and it’s only exhaust is steam.

    Hahaha yeah those spark knocks in deisel engines are a real bitch… Wait, i forgot where a spark was in a deisel engine… Can you tell me? I guess not, deisels use glow plugs, and the cylinders fire by heat and compression. Popular mechanics needs to get some educated staff… Pronto.

    So many great innovation’s with too few resources and expensive upkeep. I do love the 7 series. My last automobile was a 1997 740i – 4.4-liter V8 with lots of power but I only put premium gas in it; at around $60 + upon fill up.

    LOL but your beloved BMW is the one whose trying to push this hydrogen powered crap. If anything the only good alternative to petrol is diesel (TDI Power). Audi seems to be taking the better path (as usual).

    They put the hydrogen engine in the 7-series because the rich and powerful drive them. Its also a heavy car. So its demonstrates the power and smoothness of the engine.

    BMW calls these people “decision-makers” and produced these cars to gain their trust.

    maybe where you live, but not in my country. I dont know why as they are both nice cars but the BMWs and all other European cars bar Audi and Mercedes seem to depreciate very quickly

    wrong, audi depriciate quicker than bmw, mercedes. Only the high spec audi… RS4,6,8 dont depriciate as quick but they still take any heavier residual knock when compared to its german rivals(bmw, merc). I would assume this would be the same in any country as BMW and Mercdes are a far superior car in build, design and function. Audi are still running Front wheel drive for god sake, apart from the quatro which is an extra cost!

    you need to figure out how you’re going to live without hydrocarbon energy, forget this fancy “rechargable battery”. We wont be able to manufacture tech like this.
    This is a dangerous distraction – established auto companies clutching at straws trying to survive the oil age.
    The future of transport is bicycles (if we’re lucky), foot & horse more likely.
    only the military/state will have vehicles as we know them today.
