Can we produce hydrogen from a renewable source?

Hydrogen is produced now from non-renewable sources like methane or other fossil fuels
is there an alternative source to get hydrogen by using it?
and if there is … is it more expensive than the currently used sources?

    The alternate is electrolysis of water. While the water is renewable, the electricity used is mostly not, depending on what was used to make the electricity.

    The cost is higher obviously, otherwise no one would be using the methane method, they would use electrolysis of water instead.

    Note that, while you could setup a large hydroelectric power plant to produce hydrogen from the electricity, and that would seem to be totally renewable, the electricity that the hydroelectric plant supplies to the national power grid would no longer be available, so other types of plants would have to be constructed to take it’s place, and they are probably polluting.

    yes it is possible it is achived by eletrolysis of water which produces hydrogen at cathode and oxygen at anode.but the main problen which curtails its utillisation is that it requires a large container for its storage..

    Sure "Water is renewable.", but producing hydrogen from water in order to use it for energy is a useless thing to do. It would essentially violate the second law of thermodymanics and be a useless cycle.

    All of the current sources are too expensive since they consume more energy that you can get from burning the hydrogen. The fact is, hydrogen as a fuel source is a very long way from being practical or economic.
