how is the sun considered a renewable resource, if it will soon exhausts its fuel and burn its self out?

    In a nutshell, the sun isn’t going to burn out any time soon. According to http://adf.ly/207151/banner/www.eco-pros.com/is_the_sun_a_renewable_resource.htm, "Astronomers believe that the Sun will be a continuing source of energy for Earth at least another 5 billion years." We’re not going to have to worry about within our lifetimes.

    First of all the suns fuel does not exhaust, just like any other star they have a life period which will someday end, and when that occurs they will explode. A tree is considered a renewable resource, but just like the sun, they will grow old and eventually become useless. The Sun has an unlimited source of energy just like the other stars making it a renewable resource, eventhough it does die.

    Well, 4 billion years before the sun expands to a red giant and another 2 billion years before it collapses to a white dwarf is hardly "soon".

    Hi Jovanay,..The answer to your question lies in your use if the word "soon", or rather, I should say youre "misuse" of the word. The sun is good for many thousands of years yet, so, for all practical purposes, it can be considered to be a "renewable" resource, for quite some time into the future,..     If by "soon" you mean in the next 10 billion years, then you can consider Sun to be non-renewable. But since humans haven’t been around that long, nor will be around that long, Sun is a renewable resource because it has been providing plenty of energy for billions of years, long before humans existed, and will continue to do so for billions more, long after humans have evolved into space bugs.
